If you have never been to rehab, or haven’t been to a drug rehab for veterans, you may not know what to expect. Having a mental picture of what lies in front of you makes it that much more likely that you’ll be able to handle it successfully. So, read on for a description of life inside our veterans drug rehab near Oklahoma City.
Veterans, Mental Health, & Addiction
Understanding veterans addiction treatment starts with understanding the nature of addiction — and its connections to trauma and mental health. Substance use disorders have many causes, but the primary root of most is trauma or mental health difficulties. People in pain turn to drugs or alcohol seeking relief and balance, often igniting a devastating addiction instead.
Since veterans experience traumas much more frequently than average citizens, they have higher rates of mental health issues including PTSD after service. Consequently, they also have much higher rates of addiction. Healing veterans from addiction means healing the underlying mental health issues that have caused it.
Veterans Drug Rehab: The Treatment
Every veteran meets with our clinical team upon arrival at our residential addiction treatment campus. After learning more about your experiences, needs, and goals, the clinical team will develop a custom treatment plan built just for you. Each day, your schedule will include a variety of treatments and activities dedicated to helping you heal. Those might include one-on-one counseling, gender-specific processing groups, trauma care, relapse prevention classes, and more.
You’ll also work with our addiction treatment team on aftercare planning so your next steps on the road to recovery are all planned out before you leave treatment. Aftercare planning might include outpatient programs, sober living, 12 Step meetings, and other ways to support your recovery after residential addiction treatment.
Veterans Drug Rehab: The Experience
Of course, treatment is only part of the rehab experience. In between sessions you’ll have plenty of time to relax, unwind, and recharge. At our Tecumseh, OK, campus, you can do that by walking our gorgeous 135-acre campus, maybe talking to a few cows along the way. Or, you could take a dip in our pool, hang out with our therapy dog, or chat with your fellow vets who are on the same journey. Along the way, all of your meals and lodging are taken care of. You don’t have to worry about anything except healing and getting better.
Paying for Veterans Drug Rehab
Veterans drug rehab could be more affordable than you think. Country Road works with the VA to get addiction treatment for veterans in need, and we’re also in network with or accepting more major insurances. The best way to find out how we can help is to call our caring admissions team. Depending on the day, you might even be connected with one of our team members who is a veteran and Country Road alum. They can share their own experience on the road to recovery, and help you start your own journey.
